Ski Touring and Nordic Skiing - Easy II Trips

Help us Sign Park n' Ski Trails

Snowmobiles have been mistakenly using Idaho City Park n' Ski Trails. Idaho Parks and Rec asked IMR to help by posting No Snowmobile signs to remind operators of wintertime motorized travel restrictions.

We will be breaking trail for several miles with about 300 feet of cumulative elevation gain. Participants must bring wider track cross country skis (not narrow skis or racing skis) or backcountry touring skis, waxable or waxless. Bring a winter day pack, 10 essentials plus extra clothes, gaiters, and insulated water bottles.

Winter Ranger Program at Bogus Basin

Winter Ranger Programs will be led by Boise National Forest specialists and will focus on forest health, habitats, and winter ecology.

Meet in front of the Frontier Point Nordic Center at Bogus Basin. Tours will last approximately 2 hours.

No pre-registration necessary. The tours will be on moderate terrain. Be prepared for the weather and make sure your equipment is in good working condition.

Backcountry Intro Night

To get folks ready for skiing in McCall (2/2,2/3) or any other backcountry adventure this season, we'll work on some helpful downhill skills and climbing techniques at Bogus Basin.  Instruction will be provided in Alpine and Telemark turns.  This will be a safe place to practice some skills that can be used later on non-groomed or backcountry areas. We'll meet outside Pioneer Lodge at 6 PM ready to ski!  You will need to purchase a lift ticket if you do not have a season's pass.  Night Tickets are $22.  Your skis need to be equipped with safety straps or ski brakes.

Full Moon X-C Ski at Bogus Basin

Start your weekend off right with a fun night of x-c skiing at Bogus under a nearly-full moon and solar lights.  We will be skiing on lit and groomed trails and conditions are good.  In addition to fun on the trails, the Frontier Point Lodge will have live music and food!  If you don't have a season's pass, it will cost $15 per person.  We'll carpool up Bogus Basin Rd.

Bogus: XC Ski or Short Stack Snowshoe

All right.  At this point in an ostensibly La Nina year with still no snow, it's rather hard to predict when Bogus will open for XC skiing.  So, will we all have dozens of miles under our skis by New Year's Eve or will we be blowing off the dust that morning?  If the latter, then, yes, this will be a beginners XC ski day.  If the former, well, we'll see who signs up.  No dogs.

Full Moon X-C Ski

Full Moon X-C Ski at Bogus Nordic Center

Come ski on lit trails and enjoy live music and food in the Nordic Lodge for this Friday night monthly offering.  There are several trails to ski on and depending on size of group and interest, smaller groups may break off to ski different trails or head back to the lodge.

$10 for a trail pass and rentals are available.  It's a good way to spend a Friday night!

Nordic ski (or snowshoe) at Bogus Basin

The snow is great so let's go xc ski at Bogus Basin this Friday.  I'm going to xc ski (classic) but if others want to snowshoe or skate ski let me know.  If there are enough people we could form a snowshoe or skate ski group.  Exact trails will depend on snow conditions and grooming but the current plan is to ski the Nordic Highway, to the Flush trail,  Meadow Trail, Nordic Connector and back to the lodge. These are  all either Green or Blue trails and the total distance will be about 5 miles. We will meet in Boise to car pool and will leave Boise at about 1 pm.
