A newly downed tree spans the entire width of Elk Creek about six miles downstream from the Twin Bridges launch. Paddlers will find a calm pullout and easy portage on river left.

A fish trap, installed on Valley Creek on river right just upstream of the sportsman's access about 2 miles downstream of the Stanley Lake Creek launch bridge, can be floated by on river left where there is sufficient clearance to go under a river-wide wire (based on a scout at 400 cfs).

Tree Down on the NF Payette

A newly downed tree spans the North Fork of the Payette River on the Sheep Bridge to Hartzell Bridge section (between McCall and Cascade). The tree is located a few bends up river of the Hat Ranch take out. At 400 cfs, a narrow run is possible across the center of the tree. At lower flows, pull over on river right above the obstacle and do a short portage through the tall grass.
