The wet weather on July 10th postponed the butterfly count; lets hope for sunnier skies this time.
Help monitor butterfly population trends in areas outside of Boise, including Military Reserve and Bogus Basin. Participants should be prepared for a day of hiking: daypack, sunscreen, lunch, snacks, water, sunhat, and sturdy footwear.
A registration fee of $4 per person will be collected; the fee helps the North American Butterfly Association compile the results of this nationwide survey.
Volunteers meet in the morning at the 17th and State Street parking lot (the shopping center with a liquor store) to organize carpools.
A free butterfly identification workshop was held on Saturday, July 9th (see that day's post for details), but you needn't have attended the workshop to participate in the count.
