Join us for day trips on Class 1+ creeks in the Stanley Basin. Some stretches we have paddled before; others will be new to us. Expect to see wildflowers, wildlife, and mosquitos.
Flat-bottom canoes, quality inflatable kayaks, and swift-water hard-shell kayaks are appropriate for these trips. While we will experience little in the way of rapids, currents will be strong; participants must be able to ferry, eddy-turn, and maneuver quickly to avoid mid-stream hazards and/or riverbank snags.
We'll leave Boise on Tuesday afternoon and carcamp. Wednesday - Sunday we'll set up a shuttle and paddle a different creek/river each day, likely moving camp at least once. Our carcamps will be a combination of primitive sites and fee-based campgrounds. We return to Boise on Sunday afternoon.
In addition to boat, paddle, PFD, and throw rope, participants need camping gear, bug dope, sun protection, and river clothes (splash-proof outer layer, insulating inner layer).
The area is about a 3-hour drive from Boise and accessible to higher-clearance cars. No dogs, please.
