A team from Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue (IMSARU) will be sharing some of their operational experiences with you on Thursday 9 October.
Since the early 1960's, IMSARU volunteers have served our community in many, many ways: finding lost hikers, snowshoers, and skiers, fishing folks out of rivers and lakes, assisting in avalanche recovery, supplying first aid and communication help for the Race to Robie Creek, covering weekend EMT shifts for St. Al's - all the while keeping current with training for medical response, technical rescue, K9 teams, teamwork, and communication. Their presentation will provide you with tips on how not to become the object of a SAR mission and, if you do find yourself as the focus of an operation, best practices as how to be found quickly.
Time and location: 7 pm at the Trophy Room at the Idaho Fish and Game Headquarters, 600 South Walnut, Boise, Idaho. Park behind the building (on the east side).
IMR monthly meetings are a way to hear about topics of interest to Idaho outdoor enthusiasts. Starting in 2017, meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month and are free and open to the public. (Of course, we shamelessly hope you like what you see and will join the club--but we also don’t pressure you!) We provide outing updates, announcements, and have a 45-minute presentation followed by discussion and/or social time so people have a chance to meet one another.
