DESCRIPTION: Alpine wildflowers are one of nature’s anomalies. They grow in a harsh environment - frigid, arid, windy - that starkly contrasts with their delicate beauty. A diverse array of flowers blooms in profusion in Idaho’s alpine areas every summer. Ray Vizgirdas, a biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will share his knowledge of Idaho alpine flora. Ray has over 20 years of practical experience in botany as well as zoology, ecology, and conservation biology. He has authored several books about wild plants and flowers including:
