Like last year, this trip will introduce you to efficient and safe mountain travel using telemark, alpine touring ranndonee skis (French for "can't telemark") or splitboards. We will focus on the uphill. What to take, moving as a happy group, that kind of stuff. Downhill technique...well let us just say there are great instructors up at the ski resorts. Bring your avi (avalanche) gear if you have it, but if you don't, no problem.
The location will depend upon snow conditions. Our route will not include ANY avalanche-able terrain, nor will we focus on avoiding avalanches. That's a whole 'nother kettle of fish.
Possible destinations include the north side of Tamarack Resort (the runs of the lift that got pulled), Pilot Peak area north of Idaho City, Mores Mountain north of Bogus Basin or Soldier Mountain. Mother Nature will decide.
