David Wike of the Idaho Bird Observatory will give a presentation on trapping and banding birds during their fall migration. The Boise Front provides a unique opportunity for this work because many migration paths pass through the area. Field trips to accompany the birders as they trap and process birds are very popular, and there may be volunteer opportunities available. There should still be 4 weeks (7 days a week) of song bird trapping and banding and 5-6 weeks of hawk/forest owl trapping and banding as well as hawk watch counting left in the migration season.
IMR Monthly meetings are a way to hear about topics of interest to Idaho outdoor enthusiasts. The meetings are usually held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and free and open to the public (of course, we shamelessly hope you like what you see and will join the club--but we also don’t pressure you!). We provide outing updates, announcements, and have a 45 minute presentation followed by discussion and/or social time so people have a chance to meet one another.
