Join us for an exploratory lake-to-lake backpack in the spectacular Wind River Range in Wyoming. We will travel mostly on-trail with some off-trail sections. Although we will usually cover 10 - 12 miles per day, some days will be up to 15 miles. Nearly the entire trip will be above 10,000 feet in elevation with passes at 11,000 feet.
Participants must be fit, have lightweight backpacking gear (our packs will weigh around 25 pounds for this 6-day trip with one bad weather/rest day for a total of 7 days), be prepared for a wide range of weather conditions and be ready to ford streams.
We will leave Boise on Sunday, August 21 and car camp near our starting point. From Monday August 22 - Saturday August 27 we'll be in the mountains. We'll return to Boise on Sunday August 28th.
The trailhead is about an 8.5 hour drive from Boise and is accessible to higher clearance passenger cars. The road is paved except for the last 30 miles. IMR members have priority for this trip. No campfires and no dogs, please.
