Overnight TripMarch 30th - April 2nd (or longer as per attendee) At Yellowstone National Park, prior to April 20th, 2007, the road is closed between the West Entrance and Mammoth Hot Springs to motorized traffic. However, it is open to NON-motorized traffic. This closure opens up numerous opportunities to combine late winter/early spring car camping (at Mammoth Hot Springs Campground) with bicycling, hiking, roller blading, roller skis, jogging, etc, on a 44 mile stretch of car-free, paved road. Overnight TripWe’ll find our way to a car campsite in the Trinity Mountains on Friday afternoon/evening leaving Boise at 6PM. Those that wish to depart later are welcome to meet us up there on Friday night or Saturday. On Saturday and Sunday we’ll go on casual day hikes to mountain lakes and vistas. If snow depths permit, Brent may lead a group to the Trinity summit on Sunday. Class A-B.
Overnight TripWe’ll traverse the Sawtooths east to west from Redfish Lake to Grandjean. Depending on snow conditions the route will either follow the main pack trail, or (perferred) we’ll go off-trail through the Fishhook Basin and over a pass to the Baron Creek drainage. We’ll camp out Saturday night at a high mountain lake. Mileage approximately 20 miles. Class C. More Details, Pictures and Elevation Gain to be Added.
